Resonant with a ring that lasts, this small slope shoulder dreadnought packs a punch while remaining comfortable to play. Portland Guitar builds a modern instrument that combines patented and patent pending technology as well as the latest techniques from the luthier and manufacturing world to create a unique guitar. Adjustable action, adjustable compensation, carbon fiber reinforced curved bracing, soft edges, honeycombed top and back, these are a few of the innovations present. The ease of play and thunderous tone made from this acoustic guitar creates an experience that melts into your body and soul.
A guitar that feels comfortable and is easy to play will be played more often. Instead of a hard edge, a smooth round radius has been carved around the top. This make wrapping the body around the lower bout easy, it won’t doesn’t cut into the arm. The neck is around 0.85” thick and a rounded D shape providing an easy handle to hold.
Many different styles can be accessed from this single instrument. A cantilevered neck allows for the action of the higher frets to be altered. It can be set low for a light fingerpick or high for a hard strum. Simple to adjust, a key is inserted into the heel stock and turned a small amount.
We care about the small aspects of the guitar. Intonation problems are hard to fix and a pain to hear, fortunately there exists a solution. Our unique split saddle bridge breaks the saddle into six parts and sits in a channel allowing it to move back and forth. This allows for the compensation to be adjusted and a perfect level of intonation to be achieved. The saddles don’t move while changing strings and are simple to move by pushing them make and forth under tension.
Built from fine solid woods, care is taken at every corner to create a lasting instrument. East Indian rosewood makes up the back and sides while Sitka spruce is used for the top. The bridge, headstock and fretboard are ebony, and the neck is a species of mahogany, khaya.
All guitars come with a lifetime warranty, we want these guitars to last and bring years of joy into the world.
