Precise engineering and detailed craftsmanship come together in the creations of Portland Guitar. Only fine domestic and exotic solid woods are carefully considered for the top, back, bridge, fretboard, headstock, neck etc. Each guitar is hand worked, handled and set up to ensure the best fit and function.
This guitar is a Small dreadnought sized instrument, it has the proportions of a dreadnought but with a smaller 15” lower bout. The back is made from shedua and a top from Sitka Spruce. The tone is most like a mix between the warmth of rosewood and bass of mahogany. A pronounced middle with a roll off around the highs and mids. The neck is a C shape with a moderate amount of thickness.
Excellent sustain and projection, this guitar enthusiastically responds to every strum with vibrations that can be felt through the back. The tone of the woods is enhanced by the patent pending bracing and top system. A Honeycomb of hex pockets are routed into the top and back to lighten the top and carbon fiber reinforced braces are used to ensure maximum stability and strength. These pieces create a unique sound that shines.
Play with low action, play with high action, choose on your own with this guitar. Tune the action to where you prefer in seconds, the neck joint is a step beyond a standard bolt on neck. It is cantilevered against the body with the fretboard rising over the top so that the tilt of the neck can be easily changed by the user. A hex key is inserted into a hole in the heel stock and with a small turn allows small changes to the action.
In tune all the way up the fretboard. The bridge has superior intonation to a standard compensated saddle bridge. Each string sits on a separate saddle that can be moved back and forth. The saddles stay in place with a spring underneath to make sure it doesn’t move when the strings are off. They can be pushed back and forth until the compensation is just right. This provides tonal accuracy all the way up the fretboard.
Change your strings with ease with the use of the pin less bridge. The strings are fed through the bottom of the bridge and are held against the wood. This eliminates the need for pins and makes it easy for the ball end to slip in. Never worry about the hassle of a broken string again.
